Training online for hypnosis, training offline, taking classes and gathering software to make the job easier. These are all methods of learning hypnosis for those who feel the calling to delve into this interesting profession. While there are online classes available, most hypnosis practitioners believe that one on one instruction is still the best way. If one on one instruction is your goal, then a simple web search of your area along with hypnosis or hypnosis instruction should help find an instructor. If that doesn't work, then try the telephone directory. Look for those who practice hypnosis - especially for such things as weight loss and smoking cessation. Many times those involved in such hypnosis activities are certified by their particular school to teach as well.
If your desire is to learn hypnosis completely online then there are instructors available. It is best to check out their reputations by joining forums, groups and other online activities where people discuss hypnosis to make sure that they are reputable. In fact by joining one of these groups where people are quite willing to make recommendations and share experiences you can possibly find an instructor or at least get a referral. But beware of those companies both online and offline who tell you they have secret ways to put anyone into a trance, or how to put someone to sleep without their knowing about it. Also beware of those who promote the use of subliminal messages. They may or may not be for real, but they probably are not ethical. If they are able and willing to hypnotize someone secretly, against their will - something that may or may not be possible - are they someone you want to trust? Probably not.
Learning hypnosis is a serious business, and since a hypnotist is messing around with the minds of other people it is imperative that the hypnotist be ethical and above board. Hypnotists should be held to the same standard of "doing no harm" that physicians adhere to. The role of a hypnotist is to move the conscious mind to one side and access the subconscious, and that is where the danger lies, so be careful in choosing an instructor. And make sure that when you are a hypnotist yourself you adhere to high ethical standards.
